In this essay, I used the text Translingual Practice by Canagarajah, and Margaux’s fourth blog post to analyze my project 3 narrative which was about an experience that I had at the airport. My narrative is a dialogue in 4 different languages between me and 3 other people. In my essay, I focus on three different points. The first one is how translingualism is very important for communication and how competence in a language is not necessary for communication. The second one is about the effect that the level of competence in a language has on codeswitching and codemeshing. In the last part of my essay I focus on how translingualism can help people and can be used to increase and promote global citizenship. I explain how my narrative relates to these three different ideas. In my narrative, In my abstract, I talk about the lady that I helped and her limited language competence in English and Spanish and analyze how her basic level of competence did not stop her from being able to communicate. In my second part, I focus on how codeswitching and codemixing is present in my narrative and how it relates to the text by Canagarajah and Margaux's fourth blog post. The last part of my analysis is about how my experience was an example of increasing global citizenship.
